MP Muar mauled as Crocs continue devastating form

KUCHING: Sarawak registered their biggest win ever in the Premier League by trashing MP Muar FC 6-0 at the State Stadium in Petra Jaya here yesterday.

The Crocs stunned the visitors with their opener in the 7th minute through their prolific skipper Zamri Morshidi whose stiff grounder after collecting a pass from Bobby Gonzales beat Johor’s keeper Sani Anuar Kamsani.

“Bobby and Zamri is a great combination. They have shown positive outcomes after to have been playing for a few matches. I am happy with their chemistry in the field, during the game,” Sarawak’s head coach Robert Alberts said.

After the first goal the game was evenly contested until the 43rd minute when Bobby turned from provider to  goal-scorer when his right-footed effort from inside the box had Sani transfixed.
MP Muar almost got on the score sheet from a deflected free kick at the very last minute of the first-half but Sarawak’s keeper Aidil Mohmad produced an excellent save.

At the breather the home team lead 2-0 score.

Barely five minutes into the second half, deja vu struck the Crocs when Ashri Chuchu found the net for the third goal.

As the match progressed, Zamri once again chilled Johor’s custodian when his 35-metre volley defeated Sani but was saved by the left side of the wood-work, to the relief of the visitors.

Spurred by more than 2000 die-hard fans, Mohd Shahrol Saperi scored Sarawak’s fourth goal in the 68th minute through a stiffly taken penalty, awarded after Zamri was fouled inside the box.

The Crocs fifth goal came shortly after the fourth through one-to-one battle between Sani and Bobby.
“The players gained strong momentum in the last 15 minutes when they took the advantage of the visitors as their game trampled,” Alberts said.

It was very obvious that the Crocs showed no sign of slowing down when Ashri scored his second goal of the day, bringing Sarawak to categorical 6-0 lead.

MP Muar should have scored from a free kick in the 79th minute but missed inches away from the left post.
“Overall, the boys have shown an outstanding improvement in terms of game play, combinations as well as ability in ball control. Thus, their shooting ability and accuracy have also improved by a mile. It is definitely a
clear sign of a positive development for the team.

“Besides that, Ashri and midfielder Wong Sai Kong have also proven their maturity in the field. It is a good thing and I am happy with them. The whole game was excellent and I would like to thank the fans for their undivided and meaningful escalating cheers,” Alberts complimented.

“However, it would have been great if we could score the seventh goal!,” he joked during the interview with the reporters after match ended.
