Preview: PKNS FC vs Sarawak FA, 9 May 2011, 20:45, Stadium MBPJ, Kelana Jaya

Sarawak FA has been waiting for this big match against PKNS. All the local fans are hyped for this match as we are one of the contenders to smash PKNS’ unbeaten record this season. This game was supposed to be played on the 18th April 2011, due to the Sarawak State General Election, the game postponed to 13 May 2011. This is a must watch game as two top team lock their horns and might be game of the season yet so far. Maybe some of us still remember last year's game when we lost to PKNS at this ground with a 4-2 scoreline and some of the remaining players from the last year team would like to avenge on that defeat.

Upfront, we are now with 42 goals with Bobby and Zamri already contributed more than half of the goals. Bobby Gonzales, an early season signing from Sabah FA, can’t stop scoring in the last five games, adds up a total of 14 goals already and will spearhead the attack against PKNS this Friday. Hopefully our captain, Zamri Morshidi will recover soon from his foot injury, in time for the big match. He’s currently one of the doubtful line-up for this Friday and waiting in line is birthday boy, Khairul Azahar Eidros.

In the midfield, Sharizan has been deputizing a lot of role this season, with Shahran & Hairol looks comfortable playing alongside each other. Currently, Sharizan is our utility man and very reliable. I find Sharizan would be suitable to play as an anchorman if we are to play with two wingers, two center midfields and a lone striker upfront. His interceptions will help to reduce the pressure on the backline plus will help to make those necessary start point for an attack.

Meanwhile in the defence, Hairol & Shahran height will be important to counter crosses and physical battle with the PKNS upfront. Coach might or might not field both for the PKNS game. Maybe, Sharizan speed will also be important to counter the fast PKNS attack. It depends on how Robert Alberts decide his backline. I believe Mazwandi will return to the line-up after being rested for the SDM Navy game. His freshness will be important to counter the attack especially from the flanks, especially from P Rajes & Azrif Nasrulhaq.
As good as it sounds; fans will be hoping Sarawak to be the first team this season to win against a solid PKNS side. There’s no harm hoping, but let’s pray for our team win this Friday.

PKNS FC or Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor Football Club is a club based in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.  Although it is a club which was revived relatively recently, PKNS FC boasts of having had a number of great Malaysian footballing legends within the organisation, with the likes of Mokhtar Dahari and Santokh Singh, among others in the 70s and early 80s. This is a testament of the long historical link between the organisation and the well-loved game of football.

Currently PKNS tops the table with 42 points, coach by a experienced Haji Abdul Rahman Ibrahim; now 6 points above Sarawak. They nearly promoted to Super League last year with Kuala Lumpur to beat them for the 2nd spot.

Fielding nearly the same squad as last season, they only conceded four goals this season, proves this team is very diciplined and solid at the back with Badrulzaman Abd Halim currently the safe hand and tops the clean sheet table with 13 clean sheets. Credit doesn’t goes to the goalkeeper alone, the signing of Ahmad Tarmini Saiban from ATM, who used to play with Terengganu under coach Haji Abdul Rahman, during his tenure, have been pretty solid so far. He himself is one of the usual scorer for PKNS. His experience proves vital for PKNS. Partnering him will be the captain, Mohd Fadhil and with the two flankers keep on running up and down the pitch, will make them work hard this coming Friday. A weak spot noted is  P Rajes, where he might get caught leaving his spot too often at times.

During the last game against ATM, PKNS made a superb comeback after trailing 1-2  to host ATM. They showed resilience and compactness in the midfield architected by Khairul Akhyar who already scored 10 goals this season alongside Zamri Hassan. With a threatening frontline with their wingers working hard to provide the strikers with those quality passes from Khairul Akhyar & Mohd Azrif Nasrulhaq, something for Sarawak defence to learn to deal with in the coming game.

So, it’s all about tactical battle. One with the best tactic will surely win this. I’ll say, with the spirit both teams shows in previous match, it’s going to be hard to choose the winner for this match. I will go for Sarawak this match cause I believe that they will get something out of this match with the right tactics.
ALL THE BEST TO SARAWAK FA! All of Sarawak is behind the team, undivided. Let’s pray for a maximum point against PKNS. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
